Position Summary

The Systems Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and integration of SKYRE’s H2RENEW™ and CO2RENEW™ products into the industrial marketplace. Developing solutions to industrial problems by using mechanical/electronic/computer technology.  Contributes actively through all the phases of the product lifecycle including preliminary design, development, safety, qualification and certification and product support.

Primary Responsibilities – Please read carefully

  • Use simulation, modeling, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodology in understanding and optimizing the control system and build-in test logic. 

  • Structured requirements writing, microprocessor or PLC control coding and troubleshooting

  • Design, develop, or implement control circuits or algorithms for electromechanical or pneumatic devices or systems.

  • Classical control system analysis and understanding of control stability

  • Understanding of sensors, wiring, and HMI/GUI interfaces development

  • Work with the electro-chemical stack development teams to integrate and control newly developed components and technologies for integration into new products and customer upgrades

  • Create mechanical models and tolerance analyses to simulate mechatronic design concepts

  • Conduct studies to determine the feasibility, costs, or performance benefits of new mechatronic equipment.

  • Analyze system for safety objectives and architect solutions to assure safe and reliable product using stand approaches such as fault tree analysis (FTA), failure mode effects analysis (FMEA), mean time between failure (MTBF), mean time to repair (MTTR) and other basic reliability assessment techniques.

  • Develop and execute 3rd Party regulatory qualification and certification including UL, CE, ISO, and various industry guidelines

  • Work with University researcher on best practices, control and system architectural breakthroughs

  • Analyze data gathered and develop solutions or alternative methods of proceeding to optimize performance and increase efficiency for systems verification activities

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Systems, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or related Engineering disciplines. 

  • Experience with systems, software and hardware development in a regulated industry

  • Working knowledge and hands-on experience with electronic control systems

  • Working knowledge of pressurized gas and mechanical system design

  • Familiarity with tools such MATLAB, Simulink, Jira, Bugzilla, Perforce, DOORS

  • Experience with structured regulatory compliance in the automotive, industrial, aerospace, or medical would be valuable

  • Keen aptitude for technical work that spans multiple levels of detail and disciplines

Working Conditions

  • Light physical effort; frequent lifting or moving of lightweight materials.

  • Standing, bending and lifting up to approximately fifty pounds during a typical eight-hour workday.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
