Leadership Spotlight: Gail A. Brackett, VP of Marketing & Communications

In this interview, Gail A. Brackett, VP of Marketing & Communications at SKYRE, shares insights into SKYRE's trajectory, her vision for its future, impactful projects, and her personal passion as an avid Three-Day Eventer.

What made you choose to work at SKYRE?

In the early 1990s, my career journey began as a founding member of Team One Advertising, a new Los Angeles-based agency that embarked on an exciting venture with a then little-known disrupter company entering the luxury car market, called Lexus. This experience marked the beginning of a career highlighted by opportunities to collaborate with transformative
start-ups in various industries.

Fast forward to 2018, when I crossed paths with Dr. Trent Molter (a high school classmate), who  introduced me to SKYRE – a smart and innovative company. With renewable as the imperative, it is an organization committed to saving the world. Who doesn’t want to be a part of that? SKYRE’s story deeply resonated with me and sparked my curiosity. I felt it was a company worth my time and investment. Initially branded as Sustainable Innovations, they needed to better articulate the brand, establish a clear market position, and refine messaging. While these are critical elements to establish early on, most young businesses are unable to afford to hire experts in-house or qualified consultants to do that work.

Motivated by SKYRE's vision and potential, I offered my professional services virtually pro-bono to aid in developing the company's brand strategy. After the successful execution of this initiative, I was honored to be appointed as VP of Marketing & Communications . I am deeply appreciative of the opportunity presented to me, as it is truly unique—a chance to actively contribute to and help shape a company that is paving the way to a smarter world.

How do you connect to SKYRE’s mission?

My decision to join SKYRE was driven by my connection to their mission and the embedded values the mission holds. I firmly believe that shared values between employees and an organization are vital for success. I am fully committed to a company that prioritizes “doing right” and all the values associated with driving that kind of behavior. SKYRE provides a platform for me to channel my passion for sustainability and environmental conservation, as it aligns perfectly with the company's focus on renewable energy and social responsibility. In my own work, I emphasize innovation and efficiency, mirroring the company's commitment to delivering groundbreaking products. I believe that the company's effective messaging and voice stem from the genuine alignment with its mission, making me proud to be a part of this journey.

What do you hope for SKYRE’s future?

While some may view hope as a strategy, I prefer to discuss my vision. I envision a world where SKYRE's hydrogen recycling, carbon capture, and transformation systems are widely adopted in manufacturing facilities globally, leading to a transformative solution for decarbonization. The world seems to be aligning with this vision, and we are well-positioned to make a significant impact. There has never been a better time to champion hydrogen and advance our mission.

What’s been a rewarding project you’ve worked on since starting at SKYRE?

Renaming the company from Sustainable Innovations to SKYRE. Throughout my career, I have undertaken numerous naming projects for products, services, and companies. In my experience, renaming is one of the most challenging tasks in brand consulting due to its emotional and subjective nature. But SKYRE’s CEO approached the process with openness, objectivity, and decisiveness. The name SKYRE not only embodies innovative ideas but also serves as a cultural catalyst. As SKYRE's, we embrace unconventional thinking and defy norms. I take great pride in knowing that my professional legacy will include naming a groundbreaking clean energy technology company.

What’s a fun fact about you?

I am an avid Three-Day Eventer, a sport akin to a triathlon for horse and rider. I discovered it at age 39 when I bought a 4-year-old mare named Tiger, who became my partner in the sport. From 2003 to 2018, Tiger and I excelled, completing 81 events at upper levels with many top finishes. She taught me that age is no limit to achieving your goals. I continue to compete with her filly Genesis who was born in 2016.
