Engineering Process Manager Sonja Randall: SKYRE is part of a Planet Saving Mission

What made you choose SKYRE?

There are many reasons! I prefer working in a small company environment. There is a gratifying camaraderie and energy amongst small groups of people in a small business that is often difficult to find in a larger establishment. Since this is a new industry for me, I’ve been asking a lot of questions and the engineering team has been great to work with – I learn something new from them every day

At SKYRE there is encouragement of thoughts and an open exchange of ideas. The freedom to be able to create real change and be a part of something extraordinary is both exciting and rewarding. Smaller teams mean faster progression of activity because everyone is focused on the same priorities and so you get to see the results of your efforts faster.

There is a quote by Margaret Mead that I think of often when I am at SKYRE. She said, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” In truth, this doesn’t feel like a job. I simply want to work with good people, and after four months here, I’m sure I’ve found the right place.

How do you connect to SKYRE’s mission?

The health of our planet is something I think about daily and so I was thrilled to discover that SKYRE is a company directly tied to improving the planet’s environment. People and businesses around the world all need to pitch in where they can to improve our ability to recycle our planet’s limited resources. Since SKYRE systems are designed to recover and recycle expensive energy resources, being a part of this team means I am able to contribute to positive environmental change. SKYRE won’t save the planet alone, but we are certainly part of the crusade.

What’s a fun fact about you?

I’m a devoted 18th century history enthusiast with specific interest in Northeast-based American Revolutionary activities. I recently vacationed in Setauket on Long Island with the sole purpose to learn more about George Washington’s Culper Spy Ring. I’ve done so much research on this particular group, I was able to share additional details with local experts and tour guides. My fiancé is extraordinarily patient with me as he accompanies me to myriad historical sites and events.
